Ford To Produce Three Cylinder EcoBoost

by Domestic Car Dealer News on April 23, 2010

This week Ford Motor Co. unveiled its newest concept car in China called the Start, and today Ford announced it would produce what is under the hood – a three cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine.

The new three cylinder engine is just the latest in Ford's growing lineup of powerful yet fuel-efficient EcoBoost engines. The engine has already been a hit with premium car buyers driving the Lincoln MKS EcoBoost at Greensburg Ford, and soon other Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury models will offer the EcoBoost as well. Egg Harbor Township Ford is particularly eager for the arrival of the updated 2011 Ford Edge, offering a 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine. This unit should deliver the power that any good midsized crossover needs, while delivering class-leading fuel economy.

In addition to the powertrain, the Start concept may also hint at an all-new subcompact car in the not too distance future. However, if Ford produces this model might may only be available in developing markets.
